6 Mindfulness Journal Prompts

There’s a reason wine has always been about more than what’s in the glass. It asks you to pause, swirl and notice. Journaling works the same way. You don’t need an hour or perfect handwriting, just a few quiet minutes and the right questions. Here are six prompts, each one a little ritual of its own, to help you unwind.

Before You Begin: Date & Mood

Start by writing the date, then check in with yourself. Ask which wine you feel like today. Bubbly? Bold? Full-Bodied? Perhaps Cloudy, Dry or Still Fermenting. Or maybe you’re feeling decanted, calm and open after a long day. There are no wrong answers. Naming the mood is the first step to understanding it.

1. A Moment to Swirl…

Your thoughts and feelings today.

Just as you swirl a glass to wake up the aromas, this prompt stirs up whatever’s on your mind. Write whatever comes, whether it’s a passing worry, a small win or a thought you’ve been carrying around all day. Let it all swirl onto the page.

Try: What’s taking up the most space in my head right now?

2. What Needs to Breathe?

Something you need more time with.

Some wines open up only after you give them time, and so do some situations. Maybe it’s a decision you’re not ready to make, a conversation you’re putting off or a goal that needs patience. This prompt gives you permission to let something breathe instead of forcing a quick answer.

Try: What would feel better if I gave it a little more time?

3. Empty Glass, Open Mind

What are the things you’re making space for?

An empty glass is an invitation. What do you want to welcome in? New habits, rest, adventure, better boundaries? This is your chance to think about what you’re clearing out so the good things have somewhere to land.

Try: What do I want more room for in my life this season?

4. Pairing of the Day

A challenge paired with a joy. How will you bring balance back?

Our favourite prompt, because the best pairings are all about balance. Think of something that tested you today, and then match it with something that lifted you. A tough meeting with a beautiful sunset. A stressful commute with your favourite song. It’s a gentle reminder that the day was never all one thing.

Try:

  • Challenge: What stretched or tested me today?

  • Joy: What softened it, and how can I bring more of that tomorrow?

5. Cellar of Wisdom

A space to collect quotes, realisations and moments worth ageing.

Every cellar holds bottles that get better with time, and so do the lessons you pick up along the way. Use this space to save a quote that stuck with you, a realisation that surprised you or a small moment you’d like to remember. Come back to these pages in a few months and you’ll find your own personal vintage.

Try: What did I learn, hear or notice today that’s worth keeping?

6. Decant the Day

Free thoughts.

Finish where you started, with nothing but the pour. Decanting separates the wine from the sediment, and this is your chance to do the same with your thoughts from the day. Write freely about anything that’s left: unfinished ideas, gratitude or a simple goodnight to the day. Then close the book and let it go.

Try: What am I ready to set aside before bed?

Make It a Ritual

You don’t have to do all six every day. Some days a single prompt is plenty, and some you’ll want to fill the whole page. The idea is to take a few moments, get comfortable and give yourself some time that’s only yours.

If you’d like a beautiful place to do it, our Mindfulness Journal has all of these prompts laid out page by page, one for every day of the year. It’s a burgundy hardback with gold-edged pages and a matching ribbon marker, made for slow evenings and honest reflection.

Here’s to a slower, softer sip.
